Streamlining Payments: Your Guide to ACH Payments in ProLaw®

May 29, 2025

Efficient payment processing is key. For ProLaw® users, the ability to generate NACHA (National Automated Clearing House Association) files directly within the system offers a powerful way to streamline electronic payments.

Prerequisites: Getting ProLaw® Ready for NACHA

  1. Security Permissions: Make sure the "Create ACH" checkbox is selected on the Journals tab of the professional's Security class window.
  2. Vendor ACH Enablement: Navigate to the Vendors tab for the contact, select the "ACH" checkbox, and enter the Routing Number, Account Number, Company Code, Company Id, and Email Id.
  3. Account Setup: Go to Tools > Setup > Accounts and fill in Bank Name, Account No, Routing No, New Ach No, and Check Format.
  4. NACHA File Download Location: From Journals, select Tools > Preferences > Export tab and specify the "ACH Files Stored in" path.

Creating Your ACH File in ProLaw®

  1. Begin by creating a new Journal Entry. When you select an ACH-enabled contact, the "ACH" checkbox will automatically be selected.
  2. Enter the payment amount and click Save twice.
  3. From the Tools menu, click "Create ACH file."
  4. In the "Creating ACH" window, select the rows by checking "Create?".
  5. Click "Create File" from the Action menu.

All ACH-related data is captured in the Audit Log. New ACH-related columns "Is ACH" and "ACH Number" appear in the Query window for easy tracking.
